This stud was founded in 1933 by W.T. Pratley by the purchase of 1 ram and 67 ewes from J. Pratley, MELTON, George's Plains, Bathurst, NSW. The MELTON stud was founded in 1929 by the purchase of 2 rams from MERRYVILLE, NSW, F. No. 56, and 80 ewes from T. McAuliffe, Springfield, Yass, NSW, who had purchased the sheep in 1928 at the Dispersal Sale of W. Hay, EURALLIE, Yass, NSW, (MERRYVILLE, F. No. 56, blood). On the 1st July 1971, a partnership was formed comprising of W.T. Pratley, his son, Donald, and daughter, Elizabeth, trading as W.T. Pratley Pastoral Company. In 1981, W.T. Pratley retired and the stud was taken over by his son who, with the family, trade as Pratley Partnership.
